Root-Zone Diagnostics

This page gives the repeatable root-zone diagnostic flow: observe leaf symptoms, check moisture and container behavior, verify pH and EC, inspect oxygen/aeration risk, then connect findings before correcting.

Leaf ModuleRoot-Zone Problem Card

Diagnostic sequence

  1. Document leaf symptom pattern and canopy location.
  2. Check container weight and substrate moisture.
  3. Review irrigation timing and dryback behavior.
  4. Measure pH and EC from the most useful available source.
  5. Inspect root appearance, smell, drainage, and aeration risk.
  6. Compare recent changes against symptom timing.
  7. Decide what to verify next before changing feed.
Rule: root-zone diagnosis prevents overcorrecting visible leaf symptoms.

Root-zone problem map

Diagnostic root-zone map showing saturation, compaction, salt stress, low oxygen, damaged roots, temperature stress, and healthy root-zone targets.

Production visual v1: use this map to connect visible leaf symptoms to hidden root-zone causes.

Measurements to pair

Leaf symptom location, container weight, moisture, pH, EC, runoff/slurry trend, root-zone temperature, media type, irrigation frequency, and environmental demand.

Grow Doc prompt

I am using the Root-Zone Diagnostics flow. Leaf symptoms are [x], container weight/moisture is [x], pH is [x], EC is [x], media/drainage is [x], and recent changes are [x]. Help rank likely root-zone causes and next checks.
