THC Atlas Field Card

Necrosis Evaluation Card

Use this card when leaves show burnt tips, dead margins, rust spots, blotches, or other dead tissue. Dead tissue will not recover, so the key question is whether the damage is spreading and what pattern it follows.

Visual reference slot

High-quality visual needed

Necrosis type comparison plate

Final artwork should compare tip burn, marginal necrosis, rust spotting, irregular lesions, and necrosis following chlorosis with clean labels and matched scale.

Field checklist

  • Is the tissue actually dead or only discolored?
  • Does damage begin at tips, margins, between veins, or random spots?
  • Is the necrosis isolated, spreading, or paired with chlorosis?
  • Are pest feeding, splash damage, or disease-like lesions visible?
  • Do EC, pH, watering, and environment support the suspected cause?
Rule: necrotic tissue does not turn green again; track new damage, not old damage.

Grow Doc prompt

I am using the Necrosis Evaluation Card. Necrosis appears as [tip burn/marginal burn/rust spots/blotches], starts on [old/new] leaves, and is [spreading/stable]. Current pH is [x], EC is [x], and recent changes were [x]. Help narrow likely causes and what to inspect next.
