Downward Clawing
Downward-curled leaflet tips can accompany excess nitrogen availability, root-zone stress, chronic saturation, salinity, genetics, or other physiological stress. Shape alone does not establish nutrient excess.
Pattern questions
- Are leaves unusually dark and glossy or simply curled?
- Is media persistently wet?
- Is EC elevated?
- Are roots healthy?
- Does the pattern begin on new or older foliage?

- Genetic posture
- Other environmental stress
Discriminating checks
- Measure root-zone moisture and EC
- Inspect roots
- Review feed composition and frequency
- Track posture on new leaves after conditions change
